ECOLOVE IS GREEN ON THE INSIDE!
Ecolove Adv

Since always EPOCA SpA manufactures its products in a responsible manner, developing, managing and controlling the whole production chain with extreme professionalism. Sharing principle ethics and attention towards environmental issues has brought the concept of a line of products called "ECOLOVE".

ECOLOVE is characterized by the use of post-consumer plastic material in order to help reduce phases and productive activities that inevitably contribute to aggravate our environment.
ECOLOVE products assume the typical colour of most articles that are eco-friendly and the characteristic scent of detergent derives from the recycled raw material from empty detergent bottles.

EPOCA is in love with the idea that all individuals and organizations can act directly to deal with and solve the problem of global warming.
With the beginning of this project, it promotes a path aimed at continuous improvement, over time, of its products with the goal of increasing use of post-consumer plastic material in its production lines.

EPOCA has decided to follow this way to make a greener path.

COMPARATIVE LCA (Life Cycle Assesment)

LCA (Life Cycle Assesment)
The objective of the study of LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) is to compare the environmental impacts of products arising from the production of:
  • a bottle (Bottle 100) made from 100% HDPE (High Density PolyEthylene) and the same bottle (Ecolove 100) made from 20% to 80% virgin HDPE and HDPE post-consumer recycled material;
  • a garden watering can (Albatross) made from 100% virgin HDPE and watering can (Ecolove 6) composed by 40% Virgin HDPE and 60% post-consumer recycled HDPE.
The main difference between the two versions is that the virgin material is a ready to use granule product from the extraction of petroleum; while for the post-consumer recycled version the granules are recuperated from used empty bottles. Therefore it regenerates plastic.

The final results of LCA study show that:
  • the production of Bottle 100 involves a release of 0,19 kg CO2 eq., while producing an Ecolove 100 bottle the emission is 0.11 kg of CO2 eq. This means that the use of recycled material, instead of 80% Virgin material, involves a reduction of CO2 eq. of about 42% per item produced. Considering that if EPOCA produces 213000 bottles per year, using the Ecolove 100 production system, you would avoid an emission into the atmosphere of about 17040 kg of CO2 eq. per year, which is absorbed by about 4 hectares of tall tree forests located in the Veneto region;
  • the production of a watering can Albatross 6 involves a release of 1.19 kg CO2 eq., while the production of an Ecolove 6 watering involves the emission of 0.93 kg of CO2 eq. This means that the use of recycled material instead of 60% Virgin material, involves a reduction of CO2 eq. of about 22% for each product. Considering that if EPOCA produces approximately 236,000 watering cans per year, using the Ecolove 6 production system, you would avoid an emission into the atmosphere of about 61360 kg of CO2 eq. per year, which is absorbed by about 14 hectares of tall trees forests located in the Veneto region.
